Response patterns

Implementing Creative Step/Guideline #3

Creative Step/Guidelines #3

Background

Accept the response patterns that rob us of our creative power

Learn to trust your internal guidance

Creative Step/Guideline #3 (Top): As you explore you creativity, you will need to admit and accept that you have developed response patterns to life that render part, if not a majority, of your conscious creativity powerless such that you are unable to access a sufficient creative power to create what you desire. Trust that your internal guidance is more than adequate to guide you to change the response pattern to something that better serves your creative needs.

Background (Top)

There are two types of response patterns of life that rob you of your creative power. One is simple and straight forward and is about attachments. The second part is how the free flow of your creative spirit has been bound because its play was thwarted in the past. These are more difficult to address.

Your creative power is currently directed toward creating and supporting the experiences you currently have. Because of how life events are interconnected, your creative power becomes entwined and entangled in such a way you cannot easily extricate the creative power that you need to create what you desire from what you have created . These entanglements are the attachments in your life to things you wish to hold onto. These include both your memories and attachments to the things you have created, physical or otherwise. Attachments ultimately arise from how and what you think and believe and why you think and believe the way you do. You need to look at that to which you have attached and why.

There are things we hold onto because we think we may need them again. We like the easiness that comes when we don’t have to redevelop something. For example, it is easy to keep a shovel in the garage with the expectation you will use it again rather than needing to go out and buy another shovel when you need it. However, to hold a shovel that you will never need again only because of an attachment to that shovel and/or the job on which you had work with it is a different issue. Nevertheless, in either case, and although the shovel may be small, the shovel does take up space. Enough of these “small”things lives little space for the new. If you keep all these “small” things in your garage, you may not have the space for a new car to satisfy your current desire unless you get rid of all that you are storing to make room.

In the same way things take up space in our garage, our attachments take up or occupy our creative life energy. You must first understand how your creative power is entangled in your existing experience to free a sufficient amount to create what you desire. However, to understand how your creative power is entangles you must first realize that it is entangled. Then explore where and why it is entangled and identify those habits have often developed around these entanglements.

The second part where you have developed response patterns because you create spirit was thwarted in some way. Here we are talking about creating a safe space for one’s creativity to be free to come out and express itself. Here again, you can’t being to explore the response pattern until you admit it is there. Some additional discussion on the response patterns that thwart the free expression of our creative spirit to enter the most creative state of being is discussed under the topic of “Developing a Creativity Perspective.”

Accept the response patterns that rob us of our creative power (Top)

As you explore you creativity, you will need to admit and accept that you have developed response patterns to life that render part, if not a majority, of your conscious creativity powerless such that you are unable to access a sufficient creative power to create what you desire.

Our creative power and ability comes from the free flow of our creative spirit. It is very vulnerable and will shut itself down when its play is thwarted. Our creative spirit starts out in freedom seeking an environment which allows it to freely create only to find it is thwarted in its efforts, controlled and put into a box not of its choosing that keeps it bound throughout life unless we can figure out how to set it free.

It is quite natural and happens to all of us to one degree or another. We simply learn to respond to the experiences we have in a way that protects the creative spirit the best way we know how. Yet, in protecting this creative spirit, we stifle it and prevent its free unfoldment. More often than not, there is a level of pain we feel when our play is thwarted and controlled. In order to protect ourselves so we don’t feel that pain again, we develop response patterns to life to protect this spirit. As a child, we had little experience in life and little sophistication to properly protect this creative spirit without causing it to withdrawal our creative power. We develop childish response patterns that we never go back and change. More often than not, rather than creating a pattern that allows both the free unfoldment of this creative spirit and protect itself, we limit our creative spirit and keep it bound.

Most often we are unaware we have them and may not even recognize them for what they are when we experience them. Yet, we wonder why we do not find the creative ability to do certain things.

One way to discover the patterns we have is to see where our creativity seems to be limited or held back and explore to understand why and how it is limited. A second way to discover the patterns we have is to create meta-theatrical discussions and/or performances to view the response patterns we developed to respond to life. Whenever we are faced with a situation, we overlay one of the response patterns to life we developed. In doing so, we do not see reality for what it is but rather we see what our response pattern tells us about what we experience. Hence, we live in an illusion about what is and do not see reality for what it is. To see our illusion, we only need to create some type of a theatrical production, a meta-theater that allows us to respond as though the production were real. Then in responding to the theatrical production (the created illusion) as real, we can see the reality of the illusion of our mind and the response pattern we use to respond to life. Then in the awareness of the illusion we carry, we can change it. Once we discover these patterns, we can then change it and/or deal with the issue that creates it in a more adult and mature way. However, we must first admit they exist and being to look for them and ferret them out.

Learn to trust your internal guidance (Top)

Trust that your internal guidance is more than adequate to guide you to change the response pattern to something that better serves your creative needs.

What cause you to shut down your creative power is inside you. In this regard, nothing outside you causes your creative power to shut down. You may have had an external experience to which you responded and needed to find a way to protect yourself. Nevertheless, your mind threw the switch by the choice it consciously or subconsciously made to shutdown the flow of your creative life energy in a given direction. Only you can throw the switch to restore the flow.

Since, mind shut that energy flow off to protect itself, it is not going to willingly open it unless it has some guarantee it will not again be hurt. If it is understood how to allow the energy to flow again, it would have already done so. So, your mind cannot, and will not, give you a way to restart the flow of energy. However, your intuitive guidance can. You will need to go to your intuitive guidance to find the solutions you seek.

To use your intuitive guidance, you need to first set the intention to change the response pattern you uncovered. Then ask your intuitive guidance, “What does it look like, what do I need to do to recreate and/or transform the response pattern to something that better serves my creative needs?” It will provide the direction in which you need to move and you will need to honor your intuitive guidance in a suorephex to move in that direction.
