Inventory of choices

Implementing Creative Step/Guideline #6

Creative Step/Guideline #6

Background

Evaluation of your choices

Creatove Step/Guideline #6 (Top): Make a searching and fearless inventory and evaluation of your choices, especially related to your creative effort, regardless of whether you considered them right or wrong, and understand why you chose the way you chose as opposed to some other choice.

Background (Top)

You align or don’t align with the flow of energy that is giving rise to what you desire to create by the choices you do, and don’t, make. If you are going to create what you desire, you cannot let what you think and believe take you away from the flow of energy. Similarly, you cannot let your internal and external circumstance dictate what you do and the choices you make. Otherwise you will step outside the path leading you to what you desire. Hence you need to become very aware of the choices you make and where, when and why you step out of the flow path.

Becoming aware of your choices and the why behind the choices you make is much more complicated that we can first imagine. It can be a long and methodical process where you learn to dance between what you think and your intuitive guidance. It is here you will come to learn and understand how your mind masks the heart. But to do this, you will have to become very mindful and aware. You will have to become very mindful of the thoughts you have and aware of what they can and can’t lead you. You will have to learn what energy is giving rise to the thoughts you have and why you have the particular thoughts you do as opposed to another. You need to probe and explore the depth and breadth of your belief structure and your inner world to see what is creating the thoughts you have. Only then can you create a piece and calmness that you can take with you anywhere where you go no matter what is happening in the external world around you.

Evaluation of your choices (Top)

Make a searching and fearless inventory and evaluation of your choices, especially related to your creative effort, regardless of whether you considered them right or wrong, and understand why you chose the way you chose as opposed to some other choice.

To make a searching and fearless inventory and evaluation of your choices, you will need to review the key events of your life and look to see how and why you chose the way you did. If you draw a life map or tell the story of your life based on these key events, you can become aware of why the events unfolded the way they did and your responsibility in creating them, even those seemingly well beyond your control. If you tell your story, record it into a tape recorder. You will need the details later. As you see the key events and the story you tell about those events, ask yourself to see another way to tell the story--a way that empowers your creative ability and moves you toward the feeling of what you wish to create. In other words, you use all the same events but tell your story in a different way and in a way that empowers you.

One of the more easier ways to do empower yourself is to draw a second life map however you wish and then use the same events as in this first map to draw a second completely different life map. In the first case the map may be geographical map with mountains, lakes, swamps and the like. In the second map, it may be a map of wars and battles, a zoo or amusement park, a garden or whatever. Just make it different. For example, in one case I drew a life map as a geographical map with continents and islands. In another case, I drew a bookshelf where each book on the shelf was a different life event. In a third case, I drew a solar system within a galactic space. Draw however you feel lead. Just use the same events and the new events that surface in the process drawn a different way. Look to see where your past choice in some way denied the truth of your own being to follow someone else’s view and/or where you were too afraid to act on what you felt. Describe what you find with another.

As you look at the same event in your life in different ways, you will become aware of why you choose the way you did and that there are other options available to you more often than you realize. The most important thing you will gain in this process is the realization you do have options as to how you view life and respond to life. You will find much less is fixed than you first imagine. The question is, what do you wish to create and are you aware of what is driving the choices you make.
